Newable Limited takes part in internal auditor training with Brighter Compliance.

Introduction

Helping over 20,000 businesses thrive annually with tailored financial products, advice and flexible workspace solutions, London based Newable has been supporting ambitious businesses since 1982.

As an employee-owned business, their values are defined as a result of a company-wide engagement process. These are: Dream Big, Get Going, Grow Together, Always Improve, and Pass it On. Together these values help to foster a culture of continuous improvement, aligning perfectly with one of the core principles of ISO.

Why did Newable  decide to invest in internal auditor training?

With the Advice division being certified to three ISO standards (9001, 14001 & 27001), maintaining on top of the internal auditing schedule across all three areas was crucial to identify any issues that might be arising and to then take corrective action.

With limited resources, delays in the schedule occurred and so, the business recognised this as an area of concern. It was concluded that enrolling a selection of employees to take part in internal auditor training would create a team equipped with the necessary tools to carry out high quality audits.

With a larger team of internal auditors with specific ISO 9001, 14001 & 27001 knowledge, the responsibility could then be shared across more people, with the workload becoming more manageable.

The Process

Having previously worked with the Brighter Compliance team, it was a natural progression for Newable to collaborate with the business with regards to the training.

Newable’s ESG Intern, Rosie Knight, commented on how the process had worked: ‘Brighter Compliance offered a helpful consultation session to discuss what we were looking to achieve and how they might tailor the training to specifically meet our needs and expectations.

As many platforms only offered separate ISO training courses, Brighter Compliance offered us the flexibility of a combined course to include all three standards.  This, together with the opportunity for in-person training as opposed to online, was really appealing and offered good value for money.

Having the training tailored to our systems and documentation ensured an engaging and informative session with digestible supporting material. There were opportunities for discussion which allowed for a genuine pause for thought; it got the team involved and encouraged people to start asking the right questions adopting the auditor mindset.’

The Outcome

The team at Newable were delighted with the internal auditor training, as Rosie finished by saying, ‘With the involvement of more people, the auditing process is likely to be more efficient and make the results more reliable with more varied input and overall improved quality. This could see wider participation/input on the necessary corrective action to feed into the overarching goal of continuous improvement.

Richard and Dani highlighted certain areas which we needed to focus on to improve. By reviewing our own documents, it was a fantastic way of putting the theory into practice.’

Brighter Compliance’s Head of Consultancy, Richard Clarke, commented on the training, ‘The team at Newable were a delight to work with, they were open to improvement suggestions and took onboard any advice.

The company have embraced the three ISO standards: the auditor training was a positive & successful next step to improve their position.’
