GW Power-Safe successfully achieve UKAS accredited ISO 9001 & 14001 with support from Brighter Compliance.

Introduction

Specialist electrical, mechanical and renewables contractor, GW Power-Safe, deliver first-class solutions to a diverse range of industries.

The business, who specialise in the design, installation & maintenance of building services and infrastructure, deliver services to commercial businesses in Hull and the surrounding area.

Incorporated in 2014, the company are passionate supporters of bringing young and new talent into the construction industry to address skills shortages, while also encouraging others within the industry to do the same.

Why did GW Power-Safe decide to invest in an ISO standard?

With many opportunities available to the business including tendering for governmental and public sector contracts, the quality and environmental UKAS accredited certifications would provide the business with increased credibility while also streamlining their processes.

Internal procedures and systems were already in place at the business, however, with a desire to increase their commercial offering, the internationally recognised ISO standards would further enhance their status within the industry and demonstrate a commitment to first-class quality, sustainability and renewable energy.

The Process

Speaking with GW Power-Safe’s Operations Director, Rob Dixon, we asked what his thoughts were on the ISO process.

Rob commented, ‘Having worked with the team at Brighter Compliance previously, their experience and reputation with regards to ISO standards was well known therefore it was a natural choice to work with the company again.

Following discussions with Brighter’s Managing Director, Austin Gibbons and Head of Consultancy, Richard Clarke, they provided us with the support and guidance needed to get us started on the project.

Gaining an ISO standard can certainly be daunting and even intimidating, however, the Brighter team worked closely with GW Powers’ Quality Officer, Dion Wilkin.  Dion, having already implemented many of the companies’ procedures and processes played a significant part in working with Brighter who were on hand to answer any queries and expertly steered him in the right direction when it came to ensuring all documentation was in place.

When the three-day audit took place, we felt confident that all policies, procedures and paperwork was created and prepared and were therefore delighted when this was reflected in our successful audit result.’

The Outcome

Following the successful audit, the team at GW Power-Safe have certainly embraced the standards and are already looking at enhancing their credentials further with other ISO standards.

Rob continued, ‘With our continued investment and business development, we are growing year on year.  Gaining the two ISO standards has certainly given us credibility and I’m confident this will propel us onto the next stage of our growth plans.

We are moving into new premises soon and we have further development plans on the horizon. The ISO standards play a big part in helping us achieve our goals.’

Dion Wilkin, Quality Officer, said, ‘We are delighted with the support we received from Brighter Compliance and look forward to working with the team again when we pursue the future ISO accreditations that we are planning.’

Managing Director of Brighter Compliance, Austin Gibbons, commented on the successful project, ‘The benefits of gaining an ISO standard can clearly be demonstrated on this project, GW Power-Safe will have enhanced credibility and be in a fantastic position to tender for larger contracts and explore future opportunities with government bodies and public sector organisations.
