Why did KBH Haus initially decide to gain the PAS 2030 standard?
We caught up with Director and Co-Founder, George Karaargirov, and asked why the company originally decided to invest in the certification, ‘Providing services such as fire safety and maintenance when the business was initially launched, we decided in 2022 to invest in the PAS standard as energy efficiency and sustainability was high on our list of priorities and a key part of our future growth strategy.
The social housing decarbonisation fund is a main program which we work with, this can only be accessed if you are accredited to the PAS 2030 standard. Having gained the accreditation and now successfully going through our yearly audit process, we are definitely now reaping the benefits of our investment.’
The process
Commenting on the experience, George continued, “The PAS 2030 standard is very different to other certifications, it involves a lot of staff training, supply chain and material selection and the upgrading of our processes. We knew that in order to not only gain but also maintain the standard, we required the support of an expert consultant such as Brighter Compliance.
I’ve got to admit, many of the measures within the standard surprised us, however, with the support of Brighter’s Compliance Consultant, David Stobbs, it ensured the whole process was smooth and self-explanatory.’
KBH Haus decided to opt for Brighter Compliance’s easy to use software, Green Hub, to ensure continued compliance to the standard, commenting on the reason for using the database, George continued, ‘Having the Green Hub software was a huge positive for our team, it’s very user-friendly and made our audits a lot easier for us to manage. The system is very intuitive, ensuring all of our retrofit and installation documentation is aligned to the PAS 2030 standard, as it’s a web based system, it also makes it easy for installers to update as they go.’
The outcome
KBH Haus were successful in their 3rd year recertification, ‘We were delighted to once again secure the certification, George said. ‘As regulations within the industry continue to change and adapt, having the support of Brighter Compliance has made the process very positive and stress-free.
Green Hub is a great system and with the support from David, we’re confident that we have the processes in place moving forward to help us continue with our expansion into the industry.’
